In order to add a motor to the project, you must first add an axis to associate with it.

Select the 'Axes' tab

From the Axes tab, select new. This will create a new axis for your project. Below, in the properties window, you can name the axis. Once you have created an axis, you can associate that to a motor.

Select Connections → Manage

This will bring up the connection manager.

When you open the connection manager, it will automatically scan all available COM ports for compatible motors as well as scanning the network for IP motors. Each motor is listed by its serial number. This ensures that even if a motor is on a dynamic IP which changes periodically, or if it is connected to another COM port, each motor is always associated with the correct axis.

In order to connect a motor to an axis, simply drag the motor serial number to the axis you wish to associate with that motor. In order to unlink a motor from an axis, you can simply right click on either the motor in the connections table, or the axis table, and select 'Remove Link'.

If a motor has been connected and/or powered on since the connection manager has been opened, you will need to refresh the table to see it. You can do this by right-clicking on the table, or opening the connections menu and selecting refresh.

Once you have linked a motor to the axis, you can click on the check-box in the 'connected' column to open communications to that motor. You must be connected in order to record any data for the axis.
